Concert visuals commissioned by the Elefant Traks record label for their 25th anniversary* finale tour across June and July, 2024, at Vivid Festival, Sydney Opera House, The Tivoli, Brisbane, and the Melbourne Recital Centre.
Given their *history as an artist-run label, I pitched and developed hand-crafted concert visuals that referenced their DIY roots, and celebrated their huge archives of releases, and associated visual merch.
Graphic elements were designed for each artist, printed + cut out (+ some laser-cut on wood), and then filmed being moved around by hands on a wooden desk. Each artist was introduced by hands sliding their graphic up on the screen.
Another designed feature of the show was stylised use of live camera – processing, colouring, mixing and compositing the live camera feeds. This also helped control the colour palettes to work with the lighting, and better foregrounded the performers on stage.
(The live camera feed was captured (using a Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini Recorder 3G ) and piped into VDMX for processing, then fed via syphon into Millumin for live compositing in various ways.)
An incredible series of shows, never to be repeated – but you can at least – listen to the tour setlist (featuring The Herd, Hermitude, Horrorshow, Urthboy, Jane Tyrrell, Joelistics, Ozi Batla, L Fresh the Lion and many more.)
